MacKenzie Scott donates $100,000 to Bobcats Belong in support of mental health initiatives
SAN MARCOS, Texas, – March 26, 2025 – Bobcats Belong, a non-profit organization at Texas State University, is thrilled to announce a generous donation of $100,000 from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.
This transformative gift will allow Bobcats Belong to expand its services and reach even more students in need of mental health support.
“Bobcats Belong is doing critical work by providing students with a space where they feel seen, heard, and supported,” said Scott. “Mental health is essential to student success, and I’m proud to support an organization that is making such a meaningful impact on the lives of these students.”
Momentum is building around Bobcats Belong, with support coming in from various community members and donors like MacKenzie Scott. This funding will allow the organization to expand its programming, reach more students, and continue to provide essential mental health services at no cost.
“This donation is a huge step forward for Bobcats Belong,” said Phelan Flynn, CEO of Bobcats Belong. “MacKenzie Scott’s support allows us to expand our programs to reach even more people who need a place to belong. Since our start, we have grown tremendous support, and I cannot wait to continue to see everything our organization does for students.”
As Bobcats Belong enters this new chapter of growth, the organization remains dedicated to its core mission of ensuring every student has access to the mental health support they need to thrive.
